Traineeships

What are apprenticeships and traineeships?

Traineeships and apprenticeships combine paid work with nationally recognised training. The Trainees/Apprentices learn skills in a particular industry by working and learning on-the-job, and also through training with a registered training organisation (such as Haley College).

Apprenticeships and traineeships are available in a wide range of industries and can be full or part-time.

Apprenticeships are generally of three to four years duration, while traineeships are usually of one to two years duration.

Apprenticeships and traineeships are available in traditional trade areas as well as areas such as finance, IT, office administration or retail, to name just a few examples. For more information visit www.australianapprenticeships.gov.au.

What are the requirements for apprenticeship or traineeship?

In order for an applicant to qualify for apprenticeship or traineeship, the applicant must be working in a relevant field to the area of study, for not less than 15 hours a week, plus three hours a week allocated to training. It is best to contact the Australian Apprenticeship Center for more details.
