Certificate IV in Community Services (Lifestyle and Leisure) has been
designed for people with experience in aged care or disability work or
who are seeking a career pathways in designing, conducting and
evaluating day activity programs to promote health and well
being. Workers at this level are required to have an
understanding of indigenous culture and history and to work with local
communities in the provision of services.Career Opportunities
This course may lead to employment as a Diversional Therapist, Diversional Therapist Assistant, Activities Officer, Leisure Officer, Aged Care, Personal Care Asssistant or Care Provider within a residential setting and within the community.
Entry Requirement
- Aged over 18 years of age
- Applicants successfully complete a numeracy and literacy test
- Recognised prior learning will be considered on the merits of application as underpinned by organisational policy an procedures (provided on request)
- Credit transfer is provided for academic achievements from other Registered Training Organisations
- Access and equity applies for acceptance into training

Practical Placement
The activities placement is 160 hours in a venue relevant to area of study.
Assessment
Certificate IV level requires that students are assessed as being able to demonstrate knowledge, skills, judgement required both for self and others in planning, organising and achieving course outcomes. This is undertaken with case studies, assignments, classroom participation and work experience.
Qualification
The Certificate IV in Community Services (Lifestyle and Leisure) is a Nationally Recognised Qualification. Successful participants when qualified can be admitted at Level 2 to "The Diversional Therapy Association of Australia National Council."
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can be applied for (see policy)
RPL is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of previously gained experience relevant to the qualification. (See policy and Procedure)
