Aged Care Work Certificate IV in Aged Care Work

Certificate IV in Aged Care Work is designed to provide skills necessary to work in aged care in a range of facilities and services. It is geared to workers who carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individuals' wellbeing through personal care and/or other activities of living. The course equips the participant with knowledge and skills for caring for clients with complex needs. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.

Career Opportunities
Successful completion of this course may lead to employment as a team leader, personal care assistant/worker, home care assistant, nursing assistant community care/support worker.

Elective units may be selected from the units listed below, from other Community Services Training Package units available at this or higher levels, or from other relevant National Training Package units available at Certificate IV and enterprise specific units. Note 1: Where national enterprise units are included as options, these must be nationally endorsed (see introduction regarding new units and customisation).

Traineeship Mode of Delivery
This course is offered in traineeship mode of delivery over a 12 – 24 month period.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can be applied for (see policy)
RPL is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of previously gained experience relevant to the qualification. If RPL is granted, fees are adjusted accordingly.
