Certificate IV in Aged Care Work is designed to provide skills necessary to work in aged care in a range of facilities and services. It is geared to workers who carry out activities related to the maintenance of an individuals' wellbeing through personal care and/or other activities of living. The course equips the participant with knowledge and skills for caring for clients with complex needs. Workers at this level are required to have an understanding of Indigenous culture and history and to work with local communities in the provision of services.
Career Opportunities
Successful completion of this course may lead to employment as a team leader, personal care assistant/worker, home care assistant, nursing assistant community care/support worker.
Entry Requirements
- Aged over 18 years of age
- Applicants successfully complete a numeracy and literacy test
- Recognised prior learning will be considered on the merits of application as underpinned by organisational policy an procedures (provided on request)
- Credit transfer is provided for academic achievements from other Registered Training Organisations
- Access and equity applies for acceptance into training

Traineeship Mode of Delivery
This course is offered in traineeship mode of delivery over a 12 – 24 month period.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can be applied for (see policy)
RPL is an assessment process that involves re-assessment of previously gained experience relevant to the qualification. If RPL is granted, fees are adjusted accordingly.
Credit Transfer
